DBM-8 tutors LCEs on Budget Operations Manual for LGUs

Tacloban City (November 3) -- An orientation for local chief executives in the Region on the local budget process as contained in the 2008 edition of the Budget Operations Manual for LGUs is set to be conducted on November 8 and 9, 2010 at the Leyte Park Hotel in Tacloban City, DBM 8 Director Imelda Laceras informed.

The training which is being conducted by the Department of Budget and Management in coordination with the Region 8 Association of Local Budget Officers, aims to provide updates on the local budgeting as discussed in the Updated Budget Operations Manual, 2008 Edition.

It also intends to synchronize and harmonize the planning, programming, budgeting and revenue administrations guidelines pursuant to Joint Memo Circular No. 1 dated March 2007 issued by the DBM-DILG-DOF.

Furthermore, it aims to guide budget practitioner on the proper procedures, form and content of the annual and supplemental budget.

DBM Director Laceras exhorted the local chief executives in Region 8 to attend the orientation for their enhancement and most importantly, to improve their performance as key players in local government planning and budgeting, to come up with a more efficient and effective resource allocation, particularly target setting and estimating cost needed to provide quality goods and services to the local government unit clients.

A Registration fee of P2, 400 per participant will be charged to defray the cost of training including the cost of Budget Operations Manual 2008 Edition.
