Report from R02: Isabela
Conferment of Honor for Dolphy Quizon on Monday, Nov. 8
President Benigno S. Aquino III will confer the Grand Collar of the Order of the Golden Heart on actor-comedian Dolphy Quizon on Monday in simple rites at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of Malacañan Palace at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
The conferment is in recognition of the life achievements of Quizon, both in terms of his show business career, where his comedy has brought joy to millions, but just as importantly, his well-known philanthropy and encouragement of charitable and good causes as well. This includes the Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation that gives scholarships to deserving children of overseas Filipino workers.
The Order of the Golden Heart was established in 1954 by the late President Ramon Magsaysay to recognize “those who have rendered distinguished services or given noteworthy monetary or other material aid, encouragement to the campaign for the amelioration and improvement of the moral, social, and economic conditions of the Filipino masses, and for volunteerism in the service of the Filipino masses.”
Throughout his professional career, Quizon has brought entertainment to millions while upholding high standards in his profession. He has also characterized his other causes, even political advocacies, with good-natured decency and respect for all. It is only appropriate, then, that the government recognizes the outstanding personal and professional qualities of Quizon that have boosted the morale of the people over generations, just as Quizon has used his prominence and influence to assist and aid his fellow citizens
In recognizing of his life achievement, President Benigno Aquino III chose to confer the highest rank, Grand Collar (Maringal na Kuwintas). The first to be conferred this prestigious award was on the great humanitarian Hellen Keller on 20 May 1955. (Office of the Presidential Spokesperson thru PIA 3)
