Bansud NHS chosen as Mimaropa's regional science HS site
PIA IVB (November 9)- Bansud National Highschool in Oriental, Mindoro will be the new home for MIMAROPA regional science high school.
The Department of Education (DepED) recently confirmed the selection through Department Order No. 60. The selection was done in coordination with the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE).
With a total land area of 30,000 square meters, Bansud National Science High School is attached to one of six existing learning resource centers in the country today. It is located in the middle of the province and is accessible to students from nearby provinces.
According to BSE, Bansud has complied with the requirements for the selection of regional science high schools, which include: enriched curriculum in science, math and English; selective student admission, selective teaching-hiring procedures, class size of 40 students, qualified school head/administrator, deed of donation in favor of DepED, and availability of adequate classrooms with tables and chairs, air-conditioned computer room with 25 computer units and five printers, library with books and references, audiovisual room with television sets, radio cassette, overhead projector, and science laboratory room with apparatus and equipment.
Bansud National Science High School will house students from the entire Mimaropa region, which includes the provinces of Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Romblon.
The other regional science high schools in the country are: Doņa FL Ortega Memorial NHS, Ilocos; Tumauini NHS, Cagayan Valley; Olongapo City NHS, Central Luzon; Cavite Provincial Science HS, Calabarazon; Ligao National HS, Bicol; Aklan Science Development NHS, Western Visayas; Ramon Teves Pastor Memorial Science HS/Dumaguete HS, Central Visayas; Calbiga NHS, Eastern Visayas; Zamboanga City HS, Western Mindanao; Gusa NHS, Northern Mindanao; Iligan City East HS, Central Mindanao; Alabel NHS, Southern Mindanao; San Juan NHS, Caraga Region; Parang NHS, Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao; Benguet Public HS, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Quezon City Science HS, Metro Manila
