Malampaya provides OSY and unemployed with skillsCalabarzon(November 22) – The Skills Development Center of the Malampaya Foundation in Batangas City will continue providing skills trainings in different field to help out-of school youths (OSYs) and unemployed gain knowledge that would prepare them in finding jobs in the future.
According to the Foundation, almost 80 percent of the participants that underwent training in the Center were able to seek employment after training in welding, pipe-fitting, auto mechanic, beauty culture, and other vocational courses.
Most of the participants were residents of Tabangao, Ambulong, Libjo, Malitan, and St. Clara, the barangays adjacent to Malampaya Power Plant in Batangas City.
The Skills Development Center, established in 2007, is part of the outreach program of the Malampaya Power Plant, a social responsibility it espouses to help the community surrounding the power plant. (Carlo P. Gonzaga, PIA Calabarzon)
