PIA Press Release Sunday, January 01, 2012 Army makes final delivery of relief goods for Sendong victims in Northern Mindanaoby Ninfa B QuiranteCATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Jan 1 (PIA) -- The 8th Infantry Division,Philippine Army has made its final delivery of the relief goods it has gathered for victims of flooding brought by Sendong to Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan in Mindanao. In a text message, the commanding general of the 8th ID, MGen Mario Chan said that the final batch of relief goods had been sent to Mindanao via Liloan, S.Leyte. "Contents of the truck are the usual needs, like clothing, food, and water," the text message said. The 8th ID based in Catbalogan has earlier sent relief goods collected from the army's units and sub-units all throughout Eastern Visayas. According to reports, damages in property caused by typhoon Sendong has been estimated to be close to P1 billion. (NBQ/PIA-Samar) |
