According to Ron Bautista, information officer of LGU-Kalibo, the rehabilitation will be made possible with the recent approval of a resolution of the Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo authorizing Mayor William Lachica to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the implementation of the repair/rehab of the building through a P500 million fund provided by VP Binay. According to Bautista, the municipality of Kalibo is lucky to be selected by Binay as one of the 150 recipient municipalities throughout the country for the program. Because of this, more than 800 senior citizens from the municipality added to the list from January to September 2011 will benefit from the said activity. At present, Kalibo’s Office of the Senior Citizens (OSCA) has a listing of 6,825 senior citizens from its 16 barangays. (JCM/VGV PIA 6 Aklan) |
