Backyard farming aims to lower cases of malnutrition in Quezon townby Carlo P. Gonzaga
PAGBILAO, Quezon, January 2 (PIA) -- A backyard farming project, part of the cool maging health (CMH) program of the Team Energy Corp. was launched recently in this municipality with parents as target beneficiaries.
The project aims to decrease the incidents of malnutrition particularly in the barangays of Pinagbayanan, Mapagong, Ibabang Polo and Talipan. It is also intended to address the scarcity of nutritious food among families to make children healthy and strong and for livelihood purposes.
Through the municipal agriculture office (MAO), the family-participants were taught on the proper use of organic fertilizer so they will be able to harvest more and production of fermented plant juice, indigenous micro-organism, fish amino acid mixed with molasses, and other health foods.
With the CMH program, Team Energy Corp. has reaped the award, “Pabasa sa Nutristyon Award,” conferred by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) which is under the Department of Health (DoH). (CPG, PIA4A with report from PIA-Quezon)
