PNP starts ballistics testsby Domingo B. Natividad V
QUEZON CITY, Jan 2 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun testing the service firearms of its personnel if these had been used recently.
The test is being carried out to verify if the firearms had been fired after it was officially sealed on December 27, 2011 in time for the turn of the new year.
Records from the Department of Health (DOH) reveal that at least 22 people were wounded by gunfire during the New Year merriment.
According to the PNP, its crime laboratory is already probing the bullets recovered from the victims. The laboratory results will reveal if the fired bullets belong to a licensed firearm.
Two policemen, two army personnel, and six civilians who have fired their guns during the holidays are now facing charges. (RJB/DBNV/PIA NCR)
