ARMM OIC-Regional Governor Hataman vows open governance

COTABATO CITY, Jan. 2 (PIA) -- Newly installed OIC-regional governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has assured to initiate efforts in instituting reforms and changes.

When asked what and how his administration intends to do to curb graft and corruption in ARMM, Hataman said he has initially coordinated with the Commission on Audit (COA) to request for report on the 2011 budget of every government department and office in the autonomous region.

Hataman said, he wanted to see if the budget allocation for each of the national agencies in ARMM was properly utilized and spent to fund development programs, projects and services.

He admits instituting reforms in region requires determination, patience and decisive action, adding that his administration will go after erring public officials in ARMM.

The OIC regional governor has issued a memorandum to all heads of offices to conduct an immediate inventory of all funds in their official bank accounts and the manpower complement in each of their agencies and support offices.

During regular dialogues with personnel of different ARMM offices, Hataman appealed to ARMMís officials and employees to support the reforms he intends to institute and he urged them not to be an accomplice to anyone, especially their superiors, in anomalous actions.

Hataman said the budget appropriations, fund utilization and status of program, projects and services being undertaken would be posted at the lobby of the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) as part of their open and accountable governance. (pbchangco/PIA Cotabato City)
