Thousands benefit from livelihood programs of DSWD6by Lorenzo O. Lambatin Jr.
NEGROS OCC., Bacolod City, January 3 (PIA6) -- Thousands of poor and unemployed persons in Region VI availed of the sustainable livelihood program of the DSWD.
During a recent press conference here, the office revealed that some 2,530 beneficiaries were enrolled in the said program under the Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran Program, SEA-K, where total investments reached P16.5 million.
The province of Aklan got P1.8 million, Antique- P7.2 million, Capiz-P600,000, Iloilo- P851,000 and Iloilo City- P5.2 million.
Negros Occ. got P 225,000 for 55 people. From the figure, only four were Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.
Bacolod City has 75 beneficiaries, 11 are ‘Pantawid’members. They received P375,000 as capital for their business.
‘Pantawid’ members who joined in this endeavor totaled 1,869 while 2,530 are non members.
The DSWD also facilitated the employment of 165 people to work in the maintenance of national roads and bridges.
There were 56 who availed from Negros Occ. while four come from Bacolod City. Aklan has 9, Antique 19, Capiz 19, Guimaras 8, Iloilo 46 and Iloilo City 4. (PIA6-LOL/JCM)
