Kalinga gov reports accomplishments, to continue reformsby Peter A. Balocnit
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Jan.3(PIA) -— ‘Reforms will continue to take place this year; where we have succeeded the past year will be better improved and what we failed to do are to be done.’
This was the message of Governor Jocel Baac before government employees during the inter-agency flag ceremony held at Capitol Monday.
He said his administration will continue to introduce reforms both in local government operations and public service delivery to support the call of President Aquino for transformation.
“What was significantly achieved was the prudent spending of financial resources that went to priority programs and projects benefitting large number of the populace,” he said.
He acknowledged higher agricultural productivity in the agriculture sector from the assistance the provincial government in partnership with concerned national agencies have given to farmers in terms of technical support, financial, fertilizer and seeds subsidy.
Greening program was highlighted with tree planting activities done every third Friday of the month. The ban on commercial logging and control on tree cutting has decreased the fast denudation of forests allowing only cutting for domestic housing.
Social welfare, education and health programs were also given equal priority as seen by the increase in the number of poor families and individuals given livelihood and providential needs.
On infrastructure Gov. Baac said, travel access and transport of goods to the market improved with the concreting, improvement to all-weather-road and opening several kilometers of roads. (PAB/PIA-CAR,Kalinga)
