Ordinance, requires Tagaytay youth groups to apply for accreditationby Ruel Francisco
TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite, Jan. 3 (PIA) -- To monitor and regulate the activities of youth organizations, the city council enacted an ordinance requiring all youth organizations in the city to apply for accreditation in the office of the council
City Ordinance No. 2011-021 known as “Youth Accreditation Ordinance” was introduced by Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer Celso P. De Castro during the 65thregular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently.
One of the salient features of the ordinance is the general and administrative provisions in Section 5 which all accredited youth organizations are required to submit the following requirements: list of officers and members (with address and contact numbers); minutes of the meeting held; by-laws of their organization; resolutions (if any); endorsement from the adviser or a resolution of the organization signifying intent for accreditation; and list of proposed plans, programs and activities.
The organizations are also obliged to secure necessary permit from the city government before holding any activity within the city, promote the character, tourism, environmental and other educational programs of the city government among their members and involved themselves in the celebration of the Youth Week in the city.
Member and officers must be based or are resident of the city and its members must be below 26 years; comprised of 20 or more members; in existence for at least one year; has been engaged in relevant activities and projects; conducts regular meeting and must have an adviser overseeing their activities.
Finally, the organization’s adviser and officers shall be held liable for any untoward incident involving the organization as a whole or of its members during any activities and any provisions under Section 4, Eligibility for Accreditation of a Youth Organization, of the ordinance may result to the revocation of the accreditation and prohibited from holding any activities within the city.
