GironLUCENA CITY, Quezon, Jan. 3 (PIA) -- One of the priority projects of the provincial agricultural and fishery council (PAFC) multi-purpose cooperative, inc. is the construction of the Quezon business center in Barangay Gulang-Gulang in this city. The business center, according to James Argosino, PAFC chairperson, will help small fishermen and farmers particularly members of the cooperative in selling their products at the right price. He added that aside from the products of fishermen and farmers, the center will also cater to the different products from the 39 towns and two cities in the province that are part of the ‘one town-one product’ (OTOP). The business center will also provide space for ‘flea market’ and business counseling area for farmers and fishermen. Meanwhile, the 230 members of cooperative will be given financial assistance of P5,000 each interest-free for the use in livelihood projects that would be put up in the center. In addition, the cooperative will also provide scholarship program to the poor but deserving students particularly the children of farmers and fishermen. PAFC-Quezon is the recipient of ‘Gawad Saka Award’ for outstanding provincial agricultural and fishery council. (JMG, PIA-Quezon) |
