City council allocates P607T for Farmerís Field Schoolby Lorebeth C. Requiroso
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 4 -- In line with the thrust of the city government to boost the productivity of farmers this year, the City Council during its regular session authorized an allocation of P607,750 for the Farmerís Field School in 10 barangays.
Legislators also earmarked P1.6 million for the establishment of nurseries in 25 barangays and P110,000 for the promotion of post harvest technology and additional fixtures and furniture for the Farmerís Academy.
These will be charged to the 20-percent Development Fund for 2012 while the budget for the Agricultural Productivity Office (APO), as approved by the City Council, is P20.4 million.
Special programs of the APO include the City Coastal Resources Management Program (CCRMP), Research Development and Extension Program, Farm Youth Development Program, Entrepreneurial Development for Rural Women, among others. (LCR/PIA-10)
