Health Development Office conducts survey of 4Ps families

by Peter A. Balocnit

TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Jan.5 (PIA) -- The Center for Health Development (CHD) is conducting a survey on households identified under the National Housing Targeting System (NHTS) to check if they are enrolled with Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or Philhealth, and have their own sanitary toilet.

Dr. Judy Lacar of CHD said the survey is being undertaken by trained members of Community Health Teams (CHTs) in the barangays composed of five members.

“We have to be sure that every household member under 4Ps are Philhealth enrollees,” he said.

In this survey, they will also be validating households of these poor families if they have already built their own sanitary toilets. Though 4Ps households in some barangays are 100 percent compliant with each having his own sanitary toilet, many are yet to construct so the need to check for their compliance, he said.

To also ensure 4Ps families will not be inflicted of water-borne disease, CHD through CHTs is also checking their access to potable water. Those found drawing water from unsafe sources will be given chlorine and we will propose to the local government unit the construction of water works, Lacar said.

Children of these poor families are also monitored so that they all avail of the vaccination and go for regular check up at barangay health centers.

“Aside from the 85% attendance in class which is the concern of DepEd, we have to be sure that their children are fully vaccinated,” Lacar said.

Lacar also bared that they will also be monitoring this first quarter the Botika ng Barangay (BnB) to know their status and problems.

“Problems identified will be given the corresponding solution in order that access to safe and affordable medicines especially for 4Ps families is always available,” he said. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
