PIA Press Release Thursday, January 05, 2012 Elementary books distributed to barangaysby City of Tagum Information Office TAGUM CITY, Jan. 05 -- Tagum City First Councilor De Carlo “Oyo” Uy led the distribution of elementary books in the different barangays of the city last January 4, 2011. Each barangay received one set of books as recommended by the Department of Education-Division of Tagum City. Each set has 6 books which will be used by students from grades one to six. These books were acquired using the cash prize of 50,000 pesos from the National Council for the Welfare of Children for the city’s first runner-up win in the Presidential Search for the Most Child-Friendly City awarded in Malacañang. The books will be put in each barangay’s reading corners, as suggested by the national selection committee during the evaluation last year. Joining the younger Uy was Coun. Mylene Baura, vice chairperson of the city’s Local Council for the Protection of children and the chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s Committee on Children and Women, Coun.
