CAMP RUPERTO KANGLEON, Palo, Leyte, Jan 5 (PIA) -- After the successful holding of the 14th leg of Takbong Maharlika Tungo sa Pagkakaisa in Tacloban City, it goes to Southern Leyte on January 5, the Philippine National Police in Region 8 informed.

Retired PCSupt Samson Tucay, lead runner of the Takbong Maharlika, together with Fr. Carmelo Diola, head steward, Dilaab Foundation, and 2nd lead runner, spearheaded the activity in Tacloban City at 5:00 a.m. of January 4. They were also joined in by PDIR George Piano, the directorate for logistics.

A Transformation Forum on the PNP ITP – PGS (Integrated Transformation Program – Performance Governance System) was conducted after the run at the Tacloban Convention Center.

From the province of Leyte, the Takbong Maharlika runners are expected to arrive at Southern Leyte on January 5.

The “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa” is a PNP project that aims to encourage and urge PNP personnel and citizens in the locality to take on the fitness project and bring about national culture of fitness leading to the vision of a healthier and happier Philippines.

The run started on August 8, 2011 in Ilocos Norte and will end in Zamboanga City covering more than 2,500 kilometers of the Maharlika Highway (AH26) in a daily run of the seven months challenge. (PIA 8)
