AusAID offers scholarship grants to Aklan employeesby Venus G. Villanueva
KALIBO, Aklan, January 5 (PIA6) -- Aklan’s provincial department heads and assistants holding supervisory functions stand to benefit from scholarship grants offered by the Australian Aid for International Development (AusAID).
According to Engr. Roger M. Esto, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, the scholarship grant for the provincial employees is AusAID’s human resource development component program for Aklan on top of its Provincial Road Network Management Facilities project grant to the province.
Esto said 10 Capitol employees have applied for the AusAID scholarships which involve two years of studies in Australia, all expenses paid for, including their transportation and accommodations.
“Their only commitment after their scholarship grants is that when they go back to their respective offices, they must apply what they have learned in their studies in Australia,” Esto said.
To qualify for the scholarship grant, applicants should first pass the competency examinations, according to Esto.
Esto also disclosed that the province of Aklan was chosen by AusAID as one of its program recipients for obtaining the Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under its Search for Excellence in Local Governance or EXCELL Awards.
For the international development grant, AusAID and the provincial government of Aklan, throughGovernor Carlito Marquez recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Conference Room of the Provincial Guest House, witnessed by Department Heads and AusAID officials. (JCM/VGV PIA 6 Aklan)
