Increased business applications to ease IRA reduction

by Easter Anne D. Doza

BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 5 (PIA6) -- A significant number of applicants for the renewal and new applications for business permits went to the Bacolod City Permits and Licensing Office.

Licensing Division Chief Atty. Vicente “Sonny” Petierre said that if this trend continues, this will be a strong buffer to a reduced IRA share as a result of the conversion of 16 municipalities into cities in a press release sent by the city Public Information Office (PIO).

According to the same release, 1756 were registered in the first two working days of January 2012 where 1674 were for renewal of their permits while 81 were new applications.

Bacolod City is likewise implementing a Revised Revenue Code this year after 18 years of having been revised under tax ordinance 001-93 which specifies that tax adjustments every five years, the release from PIO added.

The implementation of the Revised Revenue Code is also in accordance with Republic Act 7160, Series of 1993 and for the past 18 years clients of the city enjoyed the leniency and generosity of the city government.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia who advocates for a One-Stop-Shop service for the public in renewal and application of business permits, assured the Licensing Division that new computer units will be purchased in order to provide a speedy and streamlined operations for the public.

Petierre added that he expects not less than 16,000 registrants by the end of January and that his office may extend the registration period, should the situation require, the city hall release added.

Meanwhile, P50 will be charged in the issuance of a certified true copy for Permits upon presenting satisfactory proof that the original permit is lost, stolen or destroyed.*(EAD/JCM-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
