CajulaoZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 6 (PIA) -– Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) City Fire District Chief Supt. Dominador F. Zabala, Jr.recently reported that there is no occurrence of fire incident during the celebration of New Year. Zabala said the fire-free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the city is due to the massive information campaign drive they conducted before the Christmas Holidays, with the help of local media here. “I would like to thank the different media outlets for helping us disseminate fire prevention and safety tips to the people”, Zabala pointed. He also thanked the general public for taking heed of their reminder to stay away from using firecrackers. “We also thanked the people who also took precautionary measures in the fire prevention campaign of our district”, Zabala added. Zabala also reported that fire incidents in the city slightly decreased last year compared to 2010. According to him, there were 35 fire incidents recorded by their office last year as compared to 39 in 2010. However, 2011 posted a greater amount of damage as compared to 2010, with an estimated damage of P54, 886,000.00 to the P21,860,000.00 in 2010, or a 105% increase in damage to properties.
