Community assemblies, validation of 4Ps' beneficiaries in full swingby Pilar S. Mabaquiao
SAN JOSE, Antique, Jan 6 (PIA) –- Community assemblies and validation of beneficiaries are in full swing in expansion towns of the Pantawid Pamilya Program in the Province of Antique.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro Petinglay said, the staff of Pantawid Pamilya Program and that of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office are conducting community assemblies and validation of beneficiaries in four expansion towns in the province that will run from January 3 to 6 this year.
“We started the year right, reaching out to communities that deserve much attention this 2012," added Petinglay, referring to disadvantaged families validated for conditional cash transfer program.
The team went to the town of Pandan, Sibalom, Tobias Fornier and Hamtic to meet 9,706 beneficiaries and validate their data to ensure they are deserving of government assistance, disclosed the source.
Once the data are validated, the beneficiaries will receive a maximum of P1,300 depending on the number of their children qualified for education and health assistance.
“Since the program is not a dole-out, we strictly adhere to the criteria during the validation” said Petinglay.
Those listed under the National Household Targeting System were verified thoroughly and if found to be not qualified they will be delisted, he explained.
In line with this, Petinglay urged local officials to help explain to the people in the barangays to be honest in answering the questions so that the government could really reach the target poor families of the program.
Likewise, he called on families to comply with the conditions of the program to continue receiving government support.
“We hope that in two to three years the program could alleviate the families from survival status to subsistence towards self sufficiency”, Petinglay said.
Of the 18 towns in the province 16 are now covered by the Pantawid pamilya Program. (JCM/PSM/PIA6 Antique)
