LandBank to install ATM in Banaue

by Vency D. Bulayungan

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 6 (PIA)-- The Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) is set to install an automated teller machine(ATM) in the tourist town of Banaue to cater to its clients in the area as well the adjoining towns of Hungduan and Mayoyao.

Normandy Salagubang, LBP manager here, said that people in said towns have been clamoring for the installation of an ATM in Banaue since they have to travel for about an hour to reach this capital town to withdraw money. Most of the government employees such as line agencies receive their salaries which are downloaded by their main office to them thru ATMs.

Banaue is alos frequented by foreign and local tourists thus an ATM is really needed to be installed in said place for the convenience of visitors, Salagubang said citing that travelers carry with them ATM cards since it is more safe than carrying cash.

Salagubang also disclosed that they are contemplating of installing three more ATMs- at the capitol here for government employees, at the Department Of Education (DEPED) and one at Alfonso Lista town.

“The requirement for the installation of said machine is that there should be 3,000 card holders in the area before our request will be granted,” Salagubang said.

Salagubang is optimistic that the installation more ATM machines in the province will ease the burden especially of employees , particularly teachers from far flung areas, who have to travel and spend time and money just to withdraw their salaries from the nearest ATM at the capital town.
