Binmaley sets up for 2nd Sigay Festby April M. Montes
BINMALEY, Pangasinan, Jan. 5 (PIA) –- Town folks here invites everyone to take part and celebrate the Sigay Festival 2012 slated on January 21 to February 3.
Gertrudes Reyes, committee chair of the Festival, said the festivities will kickoff on January 21 with the opening of the Trade Fair near the town hall and the pageant night of the Binibining Binmaley at the town plaza.
The audition for the ‘Kantahan sa Bayan’ (a singing contest), will be held on the same day.
It will be followed by a medical and surgical mission on the 24th and will be capped by the Gabi ng Pasasalamat (an evening of thanksgiving).
The medical and surgical mission will continue on the morning of the 25th while the night is set for the ‘Kantahan sa Bayan’.
A seminar on Business and Management and the Battle of the Bands will be held on the 26th.
Sumptuous seafood dishes will delight the taste buds as the Seafood Cookfest takes place in the morning of the 27th followed by the Professional, Business Sector’s and NGO night. The Fluvial Parade and the Sangguniang Kabataan night will be conducted on the 28th.
Subsequently, the ‘Kambog ed Kapokokan’ (fish catching in the pond) and the Barangay Night will happen on the 29th. Then, it is the night for the Senior Citizens and Veterans on the 30th. On the last day of January, devotees of the Our Lady of Purification, patroness here, will gather in a religious procession which will be followed by the ‘Balikbayan’ Night and a raffle draw.
The commemorative program for the 422nd founding anniversary of this town and the Drum and Lyre Exhibition are scheduled on February 1 and the coronation of Binibining Binmaley is the night’s finale. February 2 will be highlighted with a Thanksgiving Mass followed by the Civic Parade featuring Sigay Street Dancing that will delight visitors and Binmaleyans. The pageant for Ms. Gay will cap the night.
The last day, February 3, is intended for the people here deemed as the Binmaleyan’s Night. With these planned activities, the Sigay Festival is predicted to mark another year of success. (ANL/AMM-PIA 1 Pangasinan)
