Or. Mindoro, 6 LGUs get DILG good housekeeping seal

by Louie T. Cueto

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Jan. 6 (PIA) – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has awarded the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” to the province and to six other local government units including this city.

The award was in recognition to the LGUs’ capability in the field of planning, orderly governance, transparency and ready for accountabilities to achieve good results.

The provincial government received P7 million, P3 million for Calapan and P1-M each for the towns of Baco, Victoria, Naujan, Pinamalayan and Bansud

Gov. Alfonso Umali, Jr. received the award from DILG Provincial Director Samuel Borja. With Umali were Baco Mayor Graciano dela Chica, Victoria Mayor Alfredo Ortega, Jr., Pinamalayan Mayor Wilfredo Hernandez, Manny Regencia representing Bansud Mayor Ronaldo Morada and representatives from Naujan, Puerto Galera and Calapan.

According to Borja, the ‘Seal of Good Housekeeping’ was a master key in opening good opportunities for the province and its municipalities. It was the result of good and orderly governance by the LGU leadership, he added.

For his part, Umali said that it has always been his dream for the province to receive such award. He attributed it to transparent governance as shown by regular submission of financial reports and in keeping his constituents aware of local activities. (LBR/LTC/PIA4-B/OrMin)
