CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Jan 7 (PIA) -- With the help of Samar’s 1st District Representative Mel Senen Sarmiento public school teachers in the province will undergo a training that will allow them to teach reading in a more efficient way.
According to Claire Menda, Information Officer of the Department of Education (DepEd) Samar division, the representative has allocated Php 300,000 to fund the training.
Sarmiento learned of the need for the training after attending education summits in his district.
“He has attended all education summits in the district,” Menda said in an interview.
Aside from supporting all the education summits in his district, Sarmiento also vowed to provide transportation for students in the island towns of Almagro, Sto Nino and Tagapul-an by providing a motorboat to ferry the students for free to and from their schools.
“What he did in the mainland providing the students free rides to school by purchasing school buses, he will do so too in the island towns,” Menda told PIA.
With the supportive congressman, Menda believes that schoolchidlren in the first district will be best benefitted. (NBQ/PIA 8-Samar)
