PIA Press Release Saturday, January 07, 2012 DOLE launches 2nd wave Skills Registry System in Central Luzonby Carlo Lorenzo J. DatuCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, January 7 (PIA) --The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently launched the 2nd wave of its Skills Registry System (SRS) in Central Luzon covering the towns of Bocaue and Marilao in Bulacan, Limay and Mariveles in Bataan and the cities of Angeles, Tarlac and Olongapo. “SRS is a national database registry system that links the country’s active labor supply with the current manpower demands both locally and abroad,” DOLE Regional information officer Jerry Borja said. The registry contains information on the qualifications and skills of the registrants. “The system has been hooked with the databases of local and foreign companies and various government agencies such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in order to expedite job hunting and processing as well as to lessen the cost of applicants,” Borja added. The cities of Malolos and San Fernando earlier served as pilot areas of SRS in the region. “With SRS, jobseekers will have an easier access to employment opportunities both here and abroad regardless of their educational attainment,” Borja said. The project is DOLE’s solution in addressing jobs mismatch, which is one of the priority concerns of President Benigno Aquino III as mandated by his administration’s 22 point labor and employment agenda.
