RDC 3 approves conduct of feasibility study for proposed EGSA extension in Balanga Cityby Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, January 7 (PIA) -- The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Central Luzon passed a resolution endorsing the conduct of a feasibility study for the proposed P238.32 million extension of Enrique Garcia Sr. Avenue (EGSA) in the city of Balanga.
In a statement, RDC 3 said “the planned extension of EGSA is expected to boost Balanga’s tinapa and tuyo industry as it provides seamless route from the fish port to the Roman Highway which is a major thoroughfare in Bataan as well as increase tourist arrivals in the migratory bird watching sites near the port.”
Based on the initial plans, EGSA Extension will involve the purchase of lot and construction of a 3.5 kilometer road plus the necessary bridges that traverse the fishing and bird watching sites in barangays Tuyo, Sibacan, Puerto Rivas Lote and Puerto Rivas Ibaba.
RDC added that the left side of the road is being eyed as a commercial area which features processed fish stores, souvenir shops and restaurants.
On the other hand, the fishponds on the right side will be retained to preserve the environment attractive to migratory birds.
RDC 3 is the highest policy-making body in Central Luzon and serves as the counterpart of the NEDA Board at the subnational level.
It is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region and serves as a forum where local efforts can be related and integrated with national development activities.
Council members include all governors, city mayors, municipal mayors of capital towns, presidents of municipal mayors league, regional directors of national government agencies and representatives from the private sector. (WLB/CLJD PIA-3)
