by Lito M. Giron

BUENAVISTA, Quezon, January 7 (PIA) -- The beneficiaries of the programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) namely ‘Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program’ (4Ps), Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI)-Community Integrated Delivery of Social Services (CIDSS) Makamasang Tugon (MT), and Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) in this municipality presented their gratitude through a poem, dance, song and stage play as way of saying ‘thank you’ to President Noynoy Aquino for implementing these programs.

Through the poem, song, dance, and stage play, the beneficiaries showed the changes in their living conditions after enrolling as beneficiaries of 4Ps, KALAHI-CIDSS-MT and SEA-K that give inspiration to others who do not believe in the benefits of the programs.

Buenavista Mayor Maria Remedios Rivera said since the program started, many of her constituents have improved their lives with the assurance of education of their children, regular medical check-up of the family and managing their own livelihood.

“There are still many things needed in my town, but through the implementation of 4Ps, KALAHI-CIDSS-MT and SEA-K, the local economy here is gradually improving because of many livelihood opportunities offered to women sector,” Rivera added.

Almost 2,900 residents are beneficiaries of the DSWD programs and 16 barangays have benefitted the projects like construction of day care centers, open canal, farm-to-market road (FMR) and improvement of water supply.

At present, members of SEA-K project are gradually returning the amount the government lending institutions loaned to them without interest.

Samprio Alcantara, one of the beneficiaries of 4Ps and SEA-K said he started joining various community activities in their barangay since availing of the programs and volunteered as worker in the implementation of KALAHI CIDSS projects.

Meanwhile, DSWD IV-A regional director Wilma Naviamos, encouraged the beneficiaries to be more cooperative and exert more effort in the developing the services provided by the government to make it more beneficial to themselves. (JMG, PIA-Quezon)
