This was disclosed recently by barangay Bugas Chairman Donato Alamin in an interview. Alamin said that these 60 individuals, majority of them are farmers and fishermen, will be earning P219.00 a day in 11 days for excavating and putting up drainage around the barangay. “Thanks to the PNOY Program, the “Cash for Work”. This will surely help my neighbors somehow, in their most urgent financial needs today,” said Alamin. “Actually, only seven days will be allotted for their labor because four days will be given for their training just before the actual work begins,” Alamin said adding that the Municipal Social Welfare Office will be the ones to spearhead the workers' training. According to Amando Pombo, one of the beneficiaries, they are thankful to the program of President Aquino because they can also help improve their barangay. “Apart from the fact that we can earn a few pesos, we will also be involved in improving the condition of our place. We need a drainage because at a slight rain, most of our barangay roads become flooded,” Pombo said. Alamin assured that the “Cash for Work Program” for his barangay will be implemented on January 10, 2012.(PIA-Eastern Samar/Alice Nicart) |
