CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Jan. 8 (PIA) -- To promote decent employment and a safe and healthy workplace and to better boost the morale of workers in Central Luzon, the Department of Labor and Employment Region III (DOLE) collaborated with San Miguel Group and its 40 subcontractors.

The three large companies of the San Miguel Group namely San Miguel Brewery, Inc., San Miguel Metal Closure, and San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Group will be the Big Brothers while their respective subcontractors are the Small Brothers.

“I assure that DOLE will be coming up with programs and trainings to capacitate San Miguel Group’s subcontractors with knowledge and information for the proper implementation of labor standards and occupational safety and health standards at the workplace,” added Baldoz.

Kapatiran WISE-TAV also encourages big companies that practices Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to coach small companies to eventually become fully compliant with labor laws and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.

The program is anchored on the International Labour Organization’s (ILOs) WISE, whose action-oriented approach has long proven to link Productivity and Product Quality to safer and better workplace conditions.

It also made use of the TAV approach of the Labor Standards Enforcement Framework (LSEF) which aims to ensure compliance with labor laws and OSH standards. (WLB/JGB- PIA 3)
