PIA Press Release Monday, January 09, 2012 DOLE 3 achieves 100% disposition rate in SENA cases in 2011by Carlo Lorenzo J. DatuCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga January 9 (PIA) -- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 3 achieved a 100 percent disposition rate in the 941 labor-related cases that were filed under the Single Entry Approach (SENA) in Central Luzon last year. DOLE regional information officer Jerry Borja disclosed that “654 or 81 percent of these cases were amicably settled which paved the way for the payment of around P15 million in total monetary claims to 1,512 workers.” Borja explained “SENA is one of DOLE’s answers to President Benigno Aquino III’s directive of reforming labor arbitration and adjudication by streamlining procedures, removing red tape and ensuring integrity and fairness in the system.” Under this reform, DOLE and its attached agencies have been tasked to strictly follow a 30-day mandatory conciliation-mediation process for all cases so that these will not mature into full-blown lawsuits. Borja bared that their Tarlac SENA desk achieved the highest resolution in the region during the period with the payment of P536,565. (WLB/CLJD-PIA 3) |
