Nueva Vizcaya public market officials seize undocumented meat productsby Ben Moses Ebreo
BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, January 9 (PIA) -– Officials of the local government unit in this town recently confiscated undocumented imported meat products being sold discreetly at the public market in barangay Calaocan here.
Eleazar Pinaroc, market master, said the meat products, composed of pork and chicken parts were contained in 6 boxes which is being sold to buyers here.
He said the meat products worth P10,600 which came from Caloocan City did not have proper legal documents such as city permit and particular place of its destination.
“The permit being shown by the seller was still dated December 30 and therefore it has expired. It did not also bear any sanitary permits,” Pinaroc said.
He also said meat products being indiscriminately sold along the public market has been complained by meat vendors due to competition and its questionable legal right to sell them.
The imported meat products, Pinaroc added slipped the checkpoint in Sta. Fe town thrice, causing an uproar among several meat vendors and distributors in the municipality.
He said the confiscated meat products were burned after filing of the required report in coordination with the LGU and Philippine National Police.TCB/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
