Nueva Vizcaya dads mull regulation of firecrackers

by Ben Moses Ebreo

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, January 9 (PIA) –- Two board members here have signified their intent to support the proposed ban and/or regulation on the use of firecrackers in the country.

Board members Maybelle Dumlao and Lambert Galima have expressed their desire to put it into a legislative measure to put an end to the injuries sustained by firecrackers users and even death by some with their indiscriminate use.

“We will be studying this firecracker use proposal for our province because we are really bothered by its victims,” said Dumlao.

Galima, on the other hand, said that while a legislative measure can be done to regulate the use of firecrackers, discipline should still be done as it is the best solution to prevent injuries and death.

In the province alone, there were seven victims of firecracker injuries while a certain Ramel Pilada, 21 of barangay Villa Coloma in Bagabag town died in December 31. He was hit by a stone from the explosion of a dangerous firecracker known as ‘Goodbye Philippines’.

Doctors said Pilada was hit on his right stomach, rupturing his kidney that caused his death.

The board members said they will study the proposal in support of the national clamor for the prohibition of firecracker use and sale during the Christmas and New Year’s eve.

They said the proposal will surely prevent more injuries and deaths from the indiscriminate use of pyrotechnics during relevant occasions by Filipinos in the province and in the country.(TCB/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
