LTO to public:Deal directly with LTO, ignore fixersby Alice Nicart
BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Jan 9(PIA) –- With alleged reports about the existence of illegal fixers at the Land Transportation Office (LTO), provincial LTO director Narcisa Tabalnera advises motor vehicle owners to go directly to their office for registration purposes.
This, after learning that fixers were exacting P5,000 from each registrant.
“I am advising owners to register their vehicles to avoid penalty,” she said. “Also, they can avail of our amnesty program in case their vehicles have overdue registration charges,” she added.
Tabalnera said further that their offer includes a waiver of about two years penalty if the owner comes to LTO voluntarily to fix his dues.
She added that professional licenses could renew their cards with P417.63 registration fee if it is updated, but a fine of P75 would be added if the registration date has lapsed even for a day or so.
She also announced that soon, during the first quarter of the year, they will hold a mobile registration, tagged “Task Force Rehistro” for unregistered motor vehicles in the appendix towns of Arteche and Guiuan. (AN-PIA Eastern Samar)
