PIA Press Release Tuesday, January 10, 2012 NECBL games to remain in Araulloby Camille Nagano CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, January 10 (PIA) -- Organizers of the Nueva Ecija Collegiate Basketball League (NECBL) assured that the league will not change venues so fans can still catch the ball games in this city. As of Thursday last week, NECBL actions can be spotted at the Araullo University Gym here. Teams scrambling for the NECBL crown are AMA Computer College Titans, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Green Cobras, College of Immaculate Concepcion (CIC) Kings, Good Samaritan College (GSC) Crusaders, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Phoenixes, and Wesleyan University Philippines (WU-P) Knights. It can be recalled that the Araullo University Gym witnessed the hard court action of Metropolitan Basketball Association or Metroball (1998-2002). Since Metroball Teams were represented by different provinces or regions, Nueva Ecija didn’t lose the chance to build up Nueva Ecija Patriots. For those who were asking about the action packed NECBL games last Saturday (January 7), Phoenixes stayed on the top during Game 1 against Kings, 111-92; On game 2, Green Cobras knocked down the Titans in 92-83 and Knights crushed Crusaders at 127-103 on Game 3. For Tuesday (January 10), the ball would roll between Titans and Crusaders for Game 1, Knights and Green Cobras for Game 2, and Phoenixes and Kings for Game 3. The four leading teams during the Quarter Finals will advance in the semis. The NECBL is a sports program supported by the provincial government to encourage youth to become sports-oriented and veer them away from vices. (WLB/CN PIA-3) |
