DA-Caraga urges parents to enroll children in agriculture coursesby Robert E. Roperos
BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 10 (PIA) -– Citing the need to sustain good agricultural production in the region, the regional office of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Caraga is calling the parents to enroll their children in agriculture courses.
DA-Caraga Regional Information Officer Rebecca Atega said they are promoting agriculture-related courses to instill into the minds of the students the importance of sustaining agriculture.
The official also said the Filipinos should consider the agriculture industry to be sustained for the future, especially more people think that agriculture is on plowing and tilting lands.
“Ang kasagaran ra ba gyud nga gihuna-huna sa atong mga ginikanan nga kung agriculture, magdaro-daro lang sa kaumahan mao nga kasagaran sa mga kabatan-onan karon nanguha og kurso nga pang-technical aron maka-abroad,” Atega said.
(Most parents are thinking that in agriculture, their children will just plow and tilt ricefields that is why more youths at present are taking up technical courses that are in demand abroad.)
The official said the country has more graduates in other courses but lesser in agriculture. With this, she said high school graduating students at present must know the value and importance of this course.
Atega said now is the right time for the students to be educated with the processes and techniques to develop agriculture in the country, resulting to a better future for the agriculture industry. (PIA-Caraga)
