Medical team from USA to render free service in Ifugaoby Vency D. Bulayungan
LAGAWE, Ifugao,Jan. 11 (PIA)-- A medical group from the United States of America (USA) and the Philippines will conduct free medical, dental, and surgical mission in the province on January 23-26, 2012.
Dr. Joseph Bulayungan, chief of the Ifugao General Hospital announced in the PIA radio program that screening of patients is on going at the out-patient department of the hospital on a first come, first serve basis.
Bulayungan said they sent out communication to the 11 Municipal Health Officers in the province for them to recommend one patient per municipality who is 20-30 years old who will undergo any of the following: thyroidectomy (goiter operation), cleft lip repair, ear check up/ operation, eye refraction and dental extraction.
Patients who are recommended by their MHOs for operation need not come to the hospital to be listed. They may come on the said dates, but they have to come early, he said.
“Those who will undergo ear check up/operation will be given free hearing test and hearing aids while those who will undergo eye refraction will be given free eyeglasses and those who will undergo dental extraction will be given free dental prophylaxis,” Bulayungan said.
The medical team called Christ Compassion for the Needy medical group has been doing free medical-dental services to the Ifugaos for the past six years, thus Bulayungan said that those who were operated last year are advised to come for follow-up starting January 24.
The said activity will be conducted in cooperation with the provincial government of Ifugao, Ifugao Medical Society, Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao Dental Society and the Philippine Nurses Association-Ifugao chapter.
Bulayungan also bared that the medical team donated P20,000.00 which was used for the painting of the frontage of the hospital. ‘We are indeed grateful that there are groups like the Christ Compassion for the Needy who are helping us in our quest for a healthy constituents,’ he said.
