Ifugao Boy Scouts join Northern Luzon Jamboreeby Dan B. Codamon
LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 11(PIA) -- Ninety three boys scouts from this province joined other scouts from Northern Luzon for the Regional Junior Leaders Encampment held recently at Mariveles, Bataan.
The delegation led by Ifugao Council Scout Executive Joel Lagayan composed of 36 Boy Scouts, 43 senior scouts and 15 adult leaders, joined about 7,000 delegates from the other provinces for the Regional Jamboree with the theme “Scouting Builds Community.”
The activities aimed to raise the scouts’ spirit of adventurism and desire to learn to enhance their knowledge and skills as members of the Scouting Movement.
The local boy scouts joined in all the challenges involving team building such as extreme challenges, knot tying, bandage relay, Roman chariot race, giant stride, ladder relay, liquid transport, wigwag signaling, obstacle course, slide for life, high hopes and button pin making.They also visited the beautiful spots of Mariveles and Corregidor.
The senior scouts, on the other hand, involved themselves in several advocacies on health, peace, environment and human rights.
The scouts said that from this experience, they learned that happiness and friendship is defined in many ways such as ‘it is where there is peace and laughter to be with one another.’(DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
