PIA Press Release Wednesday, January 11, 2012 Lagawe LGU enforces good governance policies, austerity measuresby Vency D. Bulayungan LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The local government here recently vowed to strictly implement municipal ordinances and special orders relative to the austerity measures of the government. Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat wrote business establishments reiterating the call of the local government on the prohibition of the selling of intoxicating drinks in all forms including the operation of videoke in places near and around government establishments. Cabbigat stated in the letter that effective January 2, 2012, selling of liquors in all forms and operation of videoke is prohibited to all refreshments and restaurants located along the Mary Magdalene route and in areas near government agencies. He added that if the concerned business establishments intend to continue with the operation of their business, the LGU requests them to relocate away from the vicinities of government agencies. He gave the stern warning that any establishment who violates the Municipal Ordinance No. 2006-79 shall be a ground for more severe action against the concerned owner. Moreover, Cabbigat issued recently special order no. A-10 addressed to all department heads and division chiefs of the LGU compelling them to submit all keys of LGU-owned motorcycles and vehicles every Friday for proper management and maintenance. Cabbigat also reiterated the austerity measures which the chief executive believes are in support to good governance and good housekeeping project. These measures which employees and management should observe include: refrain from playing games on the computers as computer shall be used for official purpose only; turn – off all air conditioning unit, electric fans, thermos, water faucets, computers and other equipment, lights and the like when not in use and/or before leaving the office, and electric stoves are not advised for heating/cooking.
