PIA Press Release Wednesday, January 11, 2012 DOLE- Batangas distributes starter kits and negokarts to 48 recipientsLIPA CITY, Batangas, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Batangas provincial office turned-over recently starter kits and nego-kart units to 48 beneficiaries under the Kabuhayan Starter Kit and Nego-Kart projects.Kabuhayan Starter Kit project provides livelihood starter package of services to enable target beneficiaries to start a livelihood activity immediately and become self-employed. On the other hand, Nego-Kart project provides ambulant vendors with mobile carts help them increase, upgrade or diversity their products or services and market these to greater number of buyers or customers. Majority of the recipients are trained masseurs without start up equipment of their own, hence, their requests for the necessary paraphernalia which include blood pressure apparatus, towels, bed sheets and a variety of oils and lotions. The manicurist-applicants were provided with basics such as nail files, hair scissors and blowers, a variety of nail polishes, foot scrubs, towels and other required tools of trade of a beautician. One of the starter kit recipient, a former school utility worker requested for a grass cutter, saying it will surely help him earn a living for his family. Meanwhile, for business starters, 23 ambulant vendors received nego-kart units with essential raw materials to begin with.
