Quezon police strengthens campaign on anti-insurgencyby Lito M. Giron
LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- Quezon Police Senior Supt. Erickson Velasquez said in a radio interview at DWLC-Radyo ng Bayan, that the provincial government will provide P12 million as operational support to Quezon Provincial Police Office (QPPO).
As provincial director of QPPO for 21 months, he said, the provincial government of Quezon was very supportive to the programs and projects of the local police office, thus extended his gratitude to Quezon Governor David Suarez for the continuous support in maintaining peace and order in the province.
He also reported during the radio interview, that crime incidence in the province has decreased while crime efficiency rate and percentage of solved crimes increased.
“The counter-insurgency campaign of QPOO is considerably successful because of the support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the masses,” Velasquez said.
The modern technology like internet, cellphones, radio and television have contributed greatly to lessen the recruitment of new people’s army (NPA) because many people are already aware on the perils of joining rebel group, Velazquez added.
Velazquez also said that different government programs that are implemented and felt by many poor families in the far flung barangays may hinder in patronizing the principles of rebel group. (JMG, PIA-Quezon)
