PIA Press Release Wednesday, January 11, 2012 DPWH successfully implements Lakbay Alalayby Marivic AlcoberTACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- In order to assist travelers and commuters during the year-end holiday, the Department of Public Works and Highways, Regional Office No. 8 headed by its regional director Engr. Rolando M. Asis, formed a composite team to conduct Lakbay Alalay 2011 activity last December 31, 2011 to January 1, 2012. Fourth Leyte Engineering District Engr. Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez informed that during the conduct of the said Lakbay Alalay, composite teams were assigned at strategic areas which were under his jurisdiction. The different composite teams assisted motorists and commuters who were travelling during the year-end holiday. It was bared that different teams were assigned at the Rotonda Cogon along Palo-Carigara-Ormoc road, while an an anchorman has been designated at the Office of the District Engineer to prepare situation reports to be submitted to the DPWH regional office once in every six hours. It has been observed that the conduct of the Lakbay Alalay has been fruitful and because of the said project the flow of traffic among private and public vehicles, and the travel of motorists coming from the different municipalities has been smooth and free from accidents or any untoward incident. The communiting public appreciated DPWH’s apprehension through the organization of the said Lakbay Alalay which has been conducted for the 3rd time by the said office for CY 2011. According to them, the conduct of the Lakbay Alalay only shows that DPWH is concerned for the welfare and safety of the communiting public. Meanwhile, the DPWH-Leyte 4th Engineering District has been selected and was personally awarded by no less than DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singzon as the Best District Engineering Office in Region VIII for CY 2011. (PIA-8) |
