PIA Press Release Thursday, January 12, 2012 GSIS now more responsive to its membersby Rebecca Grace S. David CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Jan 12 (PIA) -- The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is now consultative, transparent, and service-focused, making it more responsive to the needs of its members. This was emphasized by GSIS president and general manager Robert Vergara in the Stakeholders Dialogue held at the Fontana, Clark in Angeles City Monday, January 9. GSIS chairman Daniel Lacson and P/GM Vergara apprised the members on the new policies implemented by the office to provide more responsive service to the stakeholders. Among the new policies are: partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines as a servicing bank for easier access of members, cancellation of the Annual Renewal of Active Status (ARAS) for pensioners, survivorship policy which allows survivors to get their pension even if they are receiving income from another source, adoption of the Choice of Loans Amortization Schedule (CLASP) where the retirees may choose the settlement mode of their loan payments and the deployment of 500 GWAPS or GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosks across the country. Another initiative which drew applause from the members is the commitment of the GSIS to cleanse the members’ records to eliminate the inaccuracies in the statements of loan payments they issue. Lacson added that in the following months, the GSIS will design a new insurance policy with bigger savings, review the Premium-Based Policy which is “ you get what you pay,” review the educational and funeral plans, establish a 50-seater, 24/7 call center by the first quarter and adopt a one-stop shop set up in all field offices. During the dialogues that GSIS holds every month, the issues raised in these sessions erve as inputs for the new policies to be formulated by GSIS. (WLB/RGSD-PIA-3) |
