Rotarians to students, look for lucrative professions

by Alvin C. delos Santos

TUGUEGARAO CITY, January 12 (PIA) –- The Rotary Club of Tuguegarao Rainbow, in coordination with Department of Education (DepEd), Tuguegarao City Health Office, Technical Education and Development Authority (TESDA) and the Philippine Information Agency region 2, conducted career guidance seminar for fourth year secondary students of Cagayan National High School last January 11, 2012 aimed at enlightening students on what courses to take up in college.

Club President Purita S. Licas encouraged students to take up Nutrition and Dietetics, Guidance and Counseling, Social Work, Medical Technology, Pharmacy, Library Science, Psychology and Dentistry.

“Proper guidance in taking up courses is very important. Do not choose courses that you think you can’t finish and always consider the financial capability of your parents and benefactors. College is different from high school life. You have to live on your own, without of your classmates and peers,” Licas said.

Meanwhile, Rotarians Enrique Dayag and Fe Foz also shared their success of chosen profession and gave tips on how to become successful in life.

“Look for lucrative profession and do not choose courses that are now oversupply,” Dayag said.

On the other hand, Anet Acorda of TESDA region 2 has encouraged students to enroll in technical an vocational courses and avail of the scholarship programs offered by the government.(TCB/ADS/PIA 2)
