Tagalog news: Illegal mining operations mahigpit na binabantayan sa South Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY, Enero 12 (PIA) –- Naglagay na ng mga surveillance cameras ang South Cotabato Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) sa bayan ng T’boli bilang bahagi ng pinalakas na kampanya laban sa mga illegal na aktibidad na nakakasira sa kalikasan.

Ayon kay PEMO chief Siegfred Flaviano, hindi lamang umano illegal small-scale mining operations ang kanilang binabantayan kung hindi pati na rin ang hindi lehitimong “ball mill processing plants” na nasa bayan.

Ipatutupad ng PEMO ang stoppage order sa mga ball mills na nag-ooperate sa lugar na walang permits simula Enero a-15, 2011, kay Flaviano.

Inilagay ang mga closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras sa nag-iisang daan palabas ng mga komunidad ng Kematu at Desawo upang ma-monitor ang mga sasakyang may kargang mga mineral ores papunta sa mga ball mills na nasa sentro ng bayan.

Apat na mga cameras ang nailagay upang makakuha ng mga klaro at malapitang shots lalo na kung gabi.

Ang mga footages ng CCTV camera, ayon kay Flaviano ay makakatulong sa pagtukoy kung ang mga karga ng mga dumaraang sasakyan ay mula sa illegal na mga aktibidad. (ac agad PIA12)
