Laoag City health satellite office opens for faster servicesBy: Carlo P. Canares
LAOAG CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- The Laoag City Health Office has opened its satellite office near the Land Transportation Office in Barangay 23 Laoag City.
Elsa Paguyo of the City Health Office said the satellite office will have a medical doctor, nurses, sanitary inspector and a clerk. It offers laboratory services particularly for drug testing; and other health services.
“Our clients are mostly those applying for driver’s license at the LTO who are in need of medical certificates and who have to undergo drug testing,” Paguyo said.
She said putting up the satellite office near the LTO would provide easier access and faster services to the public.
“Drivers and other clients need not go to the City Health Office beside the Laoag City Hall which is more than a kilometer away from the LTO. The satellite office is just walking distance and they can have the result of the drug test and medical certificate immediately. This is bringing government closer to the people,” she said.
The satellite office will also earn additional income for the city government since applicants might opt to avail of its services rather than of private hospitals and laboratory clinics.
“Our services are even cheaper compared to private clinics. For example, our medical certificate costs only P50,” Paguyo said.
The CHO Satellite Office is temporarily housed at the City Library.
Mayor Michael Farinas has said that the local government plans to have a building for the satellite office. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
