Mayoyao starts assistance program for barangay workersby Mhars B Lihgawon
MAYOYAO, Ifugao, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- The Local Government Unit (LGU) here has started the full implementation of an assistance program that would help barangay workers in the municipality.
An amount of P30,000 was appropriated earlier in the annual budget of the municipality to fund the Assistance Program for Barangay Workers (APBW) for its full implementation.
The APBW would provide financial assistance in the amount of P5,000 to barangay workers in the municipality who lose their lives while in the performance of duty.
Any amount not utilized within the year shall revert to the General Fund. In case the appropriated amount is not sufficient, supplemental appropriation shall be included in any succeeding annual or supplemental budget.
This is in pursuant to an ordinance that provides financial assistance to grassroots workers who are serving at their own risk with very low incentives.
The financial assistance program is supervised and administered by the Municipal Government in coordination with the Office of the Municipal President of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC).
To avail of the assistance, beneficiaries should submit the death certificate of the barangay worker from the Local Civil Registrar, appointment paper for the appointive offices, endorsement of the Municipal President of ABC as to legitimacy of the claim and marriage contract if claimant is the spouse and birth certificate if claimant is the child.
