Cauayan city council to revive inactive cooperativesby Merlito G. Edale, Jr.
CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, Jan. 13 (PIA) -– The committee chairman on cooperative development and livelihood of the Cauayan City council wanted to revive the cooperatives that are now inactive as he has seen its importance especially to farmers.
City councilor Salcedo Foronda said as of today there are only 20 active cooperatives in this city while 80 cooperatives have ceased operations due to mismanagement.
Foronda said he is now conducting assessment of the 80 cooperatives which can still be revived.
He also said his committee will ask the city government executives under the leadership of Mayor Benjamin G. Dy to provide funds to train the people who will manage the cooperatives and provide assistance to those which can still revive their operations.
Foronda said cooperatives are the strength of farmers whenever they needed loan assistance in their farm inputs for their farm and during the time of financial emergency . (TCB/MGE/PIA- Isabela)
