Alcala sets 2-day visit to Palawanby Danny O. Sagun
QUEZON CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- Turnover of farm projects and machineries will mark the two-day visit of agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala in Palawan starting Monday, January 16.
Alcala will first land in Busuanga town Monday morning to visit a communal irrigation system and a stock farm of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). From Busuanga, he will proceed to Aborlan town to lead groundbreaking of a small reservoir irrigation project and later turn over farm implements to selected cooperatives and farmers' associations.
Alcala will also meet the local media in a press conference after a farmers' forum, according to Regional Executive Director Cipriano G. Santiago.
On Tuesday, the secretary will lead the opening of the expanded Iwahig-Balsahan irrigation system at the Iwahig Penal Colony to be followed by turnover of agri-machineries for the towns from the northern part of the province.
He is also set to inaugurate a fry to fingerlings fishpond development project and the Palawan seaweed tissue culture laboratory, Santiago said. (DOS/PIA4B)
