Kalinga spends cash award to road concretingby Peter A. Balocnit
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Jan. 13(PIA) -- The P 10 million cash award of the province for achieving last year the seal of excellence in local governance is appropriated for the concreting of the two -lane provincial road from carabao marker to Davidson Hotel, Bulanao this city.
Governor Jocel Baac said after consultation with members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the planning department, they all agreed to spend the money on said infrastructure project since it is vital for the for urbanization of this component city.
Baac said work is done double time and expected to be finished before the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association meet and Kalinga Day in February in order to ease traffic and for the road to be used for the street dancing.
Meanwhile, Provincial Engineer Edwin Tubban said the two-lane Capitol junction to Purok Uno is also on-going concreting and is expected finished first quarter of the year. Construction of the drainage canal funded by the Kalinga Engineering District Office is being done simultaneously, he said.
Baac said with the approval of the P501 million budget of the province, provincial roads will be further improved. “Improvement of access roads will have a domino effect on other development aspects such as increase in agriculture production, easy transport of goods to the market, infusion of capital investment, and tourism development,” he said.
The Tabuk City LGU has also budgeted this year P42 million, P21M each for Bulanao and Bulanao Norte for concreting of barangay roads. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR/Kalinga)
